Chennai: In a first-ever move, Toothlens, in partnership with Star Health, Allied Insurance Company and Vizza Broking Services, has launched India’s first cashless Dental OPD insurance program.
This initiative aims to make dental care an integral part of mainstream health insurance for the first time.
Millions of Indians lack access to affordable dental care, leading to untreated oral diseases and high out-of-pocket expenditures. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 3.5 billion people globally suffer from oral diseases, with low and middle-income populations being disproportionately affected.
By offering cashless access to preventive and essential dental care, this initiative aims to bridge a critical healthcare gap, ensuring financial protection and timely treatment.
Comprehensive Coverage for Better Oral Health
The new cashless dental OPD insurance removes financial barriers to essential oral healthcare, allowing individuals to receive preventive, routine, and advanced treatments without upfront payments.
Services covered include:
Preventive Care: Tele-dental consultations, checkups, and X-rays.
Basic Treatments: Tooth-colored fillings, extractions, and scaling.
Advanced Procedures: Root canals, crowns, tooth replacements, and gum disease treatments.
This initiative is expected to improve oral health outcomes and reduce long-term healthcare costs.
Scaling Up Nationwide Impact
Toothlens, Star Health and Vizza aim to expand this model across India, with a target of onboarding 10,000 clinics and providers by the end of the year. Future enhancements include family plans and corporate partnerships to further extend the reach of this initiative.
By making preventive dental care accessible and affordable, this initiative aligns with the WHO’s Global Strategy on Oral Health (2023-2030), ensuring that essential dental treatments are covered without imposing financial burdens on individuals.
