Kolkata: The West Bengal State Export Promotion Society (WBSEPS) has signed an MoU with telecom service provider Vodafone Idea (Vi) today.
As part of this deal, Vi will provide digital assessment tools, educational material and training in local vernacular languages to the MSMEs.
This, in turn, will help accelerate the digital transformation of MSMEs in the state. It will be a further shot in the arm for the state’s thriving MSME sector, which employs over 10 million people.
It will, to an extent, bridge the digital divide by assessing and evaluating digital needs and identifying the right opportunities for digitization in this sector.
In the first phase, WBSEPS will gauge the digital maturity of the MSMEs in the state. Subsequently, Vodafone Idea will participate in webinars and events to provide knowledge on new technologies and create awareness.
The localised digital tools and training modules will be offered in Bengali for most of the MSMEs. Additionally, it should be mentioned that there will be a special focus on rural artisans and women entrepreneurs.
