New Delhi: UiPath, in collaboration with Google Cloud, has developed an AI-powered tool to help healthcare organisations process medical records faster. The tool, currently in private preview, was introduced at the Google Cloud Next 2025 event.
Focus on efficiency, not replacement
Built using Google Cloud’s Vertex AI and Gemini models, the Medical Record Summarisation agent is designed to generate clinician-level summaries of patient data. According to UiPath, a task that typically takes around 45 minutes can now be completed in a few minutes.
The tool aims to assist, not replace, healthcare professionals by automating the summarisation of large volumes of unstructured data into structured formats.
Developed with clinical input
The AI agent was developed using UiPath’s Agent Builder, and input from clinical professionals shaped the output structure and review standards.
The generated summaries include traceable data points, which are expected to support clinical decision-making by reducing the manual load on healthcare workers. The summaries are structured in a standard format that can be integrated into existing healthcare workflows.
Impacts on referral intake and authorisation processes
Early users of the tool have reportedly seen time reductions of up to 40 minutes per patient referral. Additionally, the agent has helped decrease the turnaround time for prior authorisations by nearly 50 per cent, according to internal findings shared by the company.
Use of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
The tool also integrates retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to handle complex, unstructured data and create relevant summaries. This approach allows the model to generate responses based on real-time retrieved information, improving the contextual relevance of its output.
