Agartala: ONGC Tripura Power Company Ltd. is partnering with Assam Power Development Corporation to develop a 250MW battery energy storage system in Assam.
This collaboration between ONGC and Assam Power Development Corporation will allow electricity generated from solar power to be stored in a state-of-the-art battery energy system.
Subsequently, it could be distributed through substations during peak demand hours or at night when solar generation is not available.
The project will be rolled out in phases to ensure smooth implementation and operational efficiency.
Once operational, this will be the first large-scale battery energy storage facility in the northeastern region. It could be a potential game-changer for clean energy in Northeast India.
The facility aims to improve grid stability, reduce dependence on fossil fuels during peak hours and set a precedent for future green energy initiatives in the region.
This will enhance Northeast’s renewable energy Infrastructure, enabling better management of solar power and ensuring more sustainable energy practices.
