Bengaluru: Amazon India has entered the at-home diagnostics segment through a partnership with Orange Health Labs, expanding its healthcare offerings in the country.
The newly launched service, Amazon Diagnostics, is currently operational in six cities, which are Bengaluru, Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Mumbai and Hyderabad.
This move marks Amazon’s latest step in building a comprehensive healthcare platform in India. The company had earlier launched Amazon Pharmacy and Amazon Clinic, the former offering medicine delivery across serviceable PIN codes and the latter facilitating virtual consultations with doctors across 10 specialities.
According to Jayaramakrishnan Balasubramanian, Category Leader at Amazon Medical, the aim is to provide an integrated digital healthcare experience rather than compete solely on price. “We launched Pharmacy two and a half years ago and Clinic more recently. Diagnostics completes this triad,” he said.
Service Details
Amazon Diagnostics will allow users to book tests through the Amazon app. The service promises doorstep sample collection within 60 minutes and delivery of digital test reports within six hours for most routine diagnostics. Currently, over 1,000 tests are available, processed through a network of seven labs operated by Orange Health Labs.
Orange Health, founded in 2020, is a diagnostics company backed by Accel, General Catalyst, Bertelsmann India and Y-Combinator, with total funding of $50 million. It is accredited and operational in multiple metro cities, providing the infrastructure for Amazon’s diagnostic expansion.
Focus on User Experience and Data Integration
The service integrates with Amazon’s existing platforms, enabling users to consult doctors, book tests and order medicines within a single app interface. Amazon Clinic, launched six months ago, has reportedly seen growing demand, particularly for pediatric, mental health and veterinary consultations.
The company claims that the diagnostic venture is tailored specifically for the Indian market, with plans to scale depending on demand and feedback.
