New Delhi: NTPC has commenced commercial operations for the final 52 MW segment of its Nokh Solar PV Project’s Plot-3 in Rajasthan, bringing the full 245 MW capacity at the site online.
According to a regulatory filing, the second and last segment of the 245 MW capacity at Plot-3 of the Nokh Solar PV project became operational at midnight on 22 June. The first segment of 193 MW had already begun commercial supply on 9 June.
The completion marks a key milestone for NTPC’s solar expansion in western India, as the Nokh project is part of the larger 735 MW capacity plan for the region, which is being developed in three separate 245 MW blocks.
The commissioning of this segment contributes to NTPC’s broader strategy of expanding its renewable energy portfolio amid increasing national targets for clean energy transition. NTPC’s standalone commercial power generation capacity now stands at 60,318 MW, while the total group capacity has reached 81,420 MW, the company reported.
The Nokh solar project in Jaisalmer district is among NTPC’s largest solar installations and part of its efforts to reduce dependence on coal-based power generation. The company has committed to achieving 60 GW of renewable capacity by 2032 as part of its sustainability roadmap.
The Plot-3 installation includes photovoltaic (PV) technology aimed at large-scale grid integration. With Rajasthan receiving some of the highest solar irradiance in India, the Nokh project is positioned to support grid stability in the region while contributing to national renewable energy targets.
Despite the operational milestone, NTPC has not yet disclosed the next timelines for the commissioning of other blocks under the full 735 MW project.
