Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government has made digital attendance compulsory for all teachers in government schools starting 1 July, as part of its push for tighter administrative oversight in the education sector.
The School Education Department of Madhya Pradesh has directed all district collectors to fully enforce attendance tracking through the ‘Humare Shikshak’ platform, an e-governance tool linked to the Education 3.0 portal. The directive follows the official launch of the system on 23 June.
Attendance Window and Leave Deductions
According to departmental instructions, teachers are required to mark their attendance online within one hour of the school’s scheduled start and up to 30 minutes after school ends. Failure to do so will lead to an automatic deduction of half a day’s casual leave. The deducted leave will be adjusted from the teacher’s annual or optional leave balance.
This system will apply to lakhs of teachers and departmental employees working across the state’s government schools.
Focus on Monitoring and Record-Keeping
The department stated that the ‘Humare Shikshak’ platform has been designed to digitally manage not only daily attendance but also service records of teachers and education officials. The move aims to bring more transparency and accountability to school operations through real-time data access.
Officials familiar with the rollout said the digital platform is expected to reduce discrepancies in attendance data and streamline administrative decision-making, particularly related to leave, transfers, and promotions.
