Kolkata: The New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) plans to repair and restore all 24 smart passenger waiting areas across New Town.
The work has already been done on an experimental basis on the smart waiting area in Pyancha More opposite Eco Park on the Biswa Bangla Sarani.
The shed, the painting and the charging points have all undergone a makeover. Similar facelifts will happen in all 24 smart waiting areas.
These smart waiting areas came up across New Town a few years back in different congested and important areas like Akanksha, Pyancha More, Jatragachi Bande More, Nazrul Tirtha and areas adjoining New Town Police Station, among others.
All these were created in a smart mode and included various passenger amenities like a small cafe, pure drinking water, mobile charging kiosks and electronic displays, among others.
However, with rain, sun and other natural wear and tear, all these smart waiting areas have become dilapidated. Either the mobile charging points, the shed or thr seats have got damaged.
NKDA will repair all these smart waiting areas to bring them back as state-of-the-art passenger amenities.
