Kolkata: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is opening a new office campus at New Town, Kolkata, spread over 20 acres.
The New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) has already sanctioned the Phase-I building plan for TCS at the Bengal Silicon Valley.
In the first phase, TCS will build an 11-storey office tower over 9 lakh sq ft of infrastructure, creating employment for a workforce of 5000, while in the second phase, TCS will add another 15 lakh sq ft. This will generate employment for another 20,000 workforce.
Overall, upon completion, the TCS campus will comprise 24 lakh sq ft of built-up space and create 25,000 direct employment opportunities.
According to NKDA, Bengal Silicon Valley in New Town is emerging as a prime destination for both IT services as well as data centre companies.
In the last three years, nearly 30 IT services and ITeS players have taken more than 6.50 lakh sq ft of land for developing their campuses.
