New Delhi: The central government has approved the establishment of a Rs 417 crore Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.
The project is expected to attract investments worth Rs 2,500 crore and create approximately 15,000 jobs, enhancing India’s position as a global manufacturing hub.
The EMC 2.0 project will be developed by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) across 200 acres.
It aims to support manufacturing in high-potential segments such as consumer electronics, automotive and industrial electronics, medical devices, computer hardware and communication equipment.
Designed with startups and MSMEs in mind, the cluster will offer plug-and-play infrastructure, standard factory sheds, and access to shared facilities like power, water, waste management, hostels and skill development centres.
The project was reviewed by Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State Jitin Prasada. Recognising the key role of the state government, officials have been directed to work in close coordination with Uttar Pradesh authorities to accelerate implementation.
“This project will create world-class infrastructure and is aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting manufacturing and building a Viksit Bharat,” said Union Minister Vaishnaw.
Strategically located along the Yamuna Expressway and Eastern Peripheral Expressway, the site offers excellent connectivity by road, rail and air, with proximity to the upcoming Palwal–Khurja Expressway, Jewar International Airport and major industrial parks including the Medical Device Park and Apparel Park.
The EMC scheme has already drawn investments of around Rs 30,000 crore, supported 520 companies and generated over 86,000 jobs nationwide.
With the new cluster in Gautam Buddha Nagar, India aims to accelerate electronics manufacturing growth while reducing logistics and infrastructure costs for industries.
