New Delhi: In a major administrative reshuffle, President Droupadi Murmu has appointed new governors for Goa and Haryana, as well as a new lieutenant governor for the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The move is aimed at enhancing governance and improving administrative efficiency in these regions.
Senior Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and former Union Minister, Ashok Gajapathi Raju has been appointed as the Governor of Goa. With a long-standing career in public service and governance, Raju is known for his administrative expertise and political experience. His appointment is expected to improve coordination between the state and central governments and bring a renewed focus to Goa’s developmental agenda.
Ashim Kumar Ghosh has been named the Governor of Haryana. A seasoned public servant, Ghosh is expected to focus on maintaining law and order and promoting economic and social development in the state. His leadership comes at a crucial time, with Haryana facing several governance and infrastructural challenges.
Meanwhile, in Ladakh, senior BJP leader Kavinder Gupta has been appointed the new Lieutenant Governor following the resignation of Brigadier (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.). Gupta’s appointment underscores the Centre’s focus on addressing the unique developmental needs and strategic importance of the Union Territory.
These key appointments reflect the government’s broader strategy to strengthen leadership and administration across India’s diverse regions.
