New Delhi: Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast has partnered with Indian automotive services firm myTVS to expand its after-sales service network in India. The companies aim to establish 120 Extended Service Workshops across the country, covering metro areas and Tier 2 and 3 towns.
India’s electric vehicle sector is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 23.4% between 2024 and 2033, reaching a market size of over $2 trillion by 2033, according to the Indian Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF). However, gaps in after-sales support remain a key barrier to widespread EV adoption.
To address this, VinFast’s partnership with myTVS focuses on delivering standardised service infrastructure, including support for charging facilities and dealership-level repairs and maintenance. The move signals VinFast’s intent to build consumer confidence through reliable service access, particularly outside metro regions where EV infrastructure remains limited.
The partnership follows VinFast’s ongoing investment in a new EV manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. The company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government in January 2024, committing $500 million over five years. Once operational, the facility is expected to produce up to 150,000 vehicles annually, contributing to India’s emerging role as a regional EV manufacturing base.
Commenting on the partnership, VinFast Asia CEO Pham Sanh Chau said the initiative aims to support India’s EV transition by ensuring accessible, standardised after-sales services. myTVS CEO Natarajan Srinivasan noted that the collaboration would help VinFast scale operations efficiently using myTVS’s existing service tech platforms.
