New Delhi: Starting this Independence Day, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will launch the FASTag Annual Pass scheme. The move aims to simplify toll payments for frequent travelers, offering significant cost savings.
Routes Covered and Excluded
Key routes covered under this scheme include the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, Mumbai–Nashik, Mumbai–Surat, and Mumbai–Ratnagiri stretches. However, the pass will not be valid for tolls on state highways or municipal roads, where standard FASTag pay-per-use charges will continue to apply.Â
Roads excluded from the scheme include the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, Mumbai–Nagpur Expressway (Samruddhi Mahamarg), Atal Setu, Agra–Lucknow Expressway, Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway, and Ahmedabad–Vadodara Expressway.
Key Details and Eligibility
Owners of private cars, jeeps, and vans can pay a one-time fee of Rs 3,000 for the 2025–26 base year. This payment will cover either 200 toll transactions or travel for one year, whichever comes first. The pass will allow free access through designated National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) toll plazas managed by NHAI and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).
The FASTag Annual Pass can be linked to an existing FASTag, avoiding the need for a fresh purchase.Â
Eligibility requirements include a properly affixed FASTag on the windshield and a vehicle registration number that is not blacklisted. Once payment is confirmed, activation typically happens within two hours.
Important ConditionsÂ
The scheme comes with a few important conditions:
- Non-Transferable & Non-Refundable: The pass is tied to a specific vehicle and cannot be reassigned or refunded.
- Limited Coverage: Valid only on selected national highways and expressways under NHAI and MoRTH.
- No Auto-Renewal: Once validity ends or 200 trips are used, users must reapply to continue.
After the trip limit or one-year period is over, the FASTag automatically reverts to the standard pay-per-use model.
Officials believe the initiative will particularly benefit daily commuters, intercity travelers, and business operators who make frequent highway trips. With its Independence Day launch, the FASTag Annual Pass is expected to streamline highway travel, offering both savings and smoother journeys for millions.
