Banswara: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Banswara, Rajasthan, on September 25 to mark the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, where he is scheduled to unveil projects worth more than Rs 1.21 lakh crore. The programme includes a mix of energy, infrastructure, and transport initiatives aimed at expanding Rajasthan’s power capacity and improving connectivity with northern India.
A key highlight of the visit will be the foundation stone laying of the Mahi-Banswara Nuclear Power Plant, projected to play a central role in boosting power generation in the region. The plant is expected to strengthen Rajasthan’s electricity supply and add to India’s long-term nuclear energy programme. In addition to nuclear energy, the Prime Minister will dedicate clean and renewable energy projects across Rajasthan and other states, reflecting the government’s focus on diversifying India’s energy mix.
Transport infrastructure will also see a push, with the flagging off of three new train services: the Bikaner–Delhi Cantt Vande Bharat Express, the Jodhpur–Delhi Cantt Vande Bharat Express, and the Udaipur City–Chandigarh Express. These services are expected to reduce travel time and improve passenger movement between Rajasthan and northern states, particularly the national capital region.
During the visit, the Prime Minister is also expected to interact with beneficiaries of the PM-KUSUM scheme, which promotes the use of solar energy for irrigation. The scheme has seen uptake in several parts of Rajasthan, where farmers are using solar pumps to reduce reliance on grid power and conventional fuels.
The projects announced in Banswara signal a broader policy focus on energy diversification and infrastructure expansion, aligning with ongoing national targets in power generation and transport connectivity.
