New Delhi: The National e-Governance Division (NeGD), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, has enabled the integration of nearly 2,000 e-Government services across all 36 States and Union Territories on DigiLocker and e-District platforms. The move expands citizen access to essential services such as certificates, welfare schemes, and utility payments through a single digital interface, reinforcing efforts to streamline governance and service delivery under the Digital India programme.
Maharashtra currently provides the highest number of services at 254, followed by Delhi with 123, Karnataka with 113, Assam with 102, and Uttar Pradesh with 86. Other states including Kerala and Jammu & Kashmir offer 77 services each, Andhra Pradesh 76, Gujarat 64, Tamil Nadu and Goa 63 each, while Haryana and Himachal Pradesh provide 60 and 58 respectively. In total, 1,938 services are now available for citizens nationwide.
DigiLocker, which has emerged as a key element of India’s digital public infrastructure, has facilitated this integration by addressing challenges related to interoperability and secure data access. Officials noted that the unified framework is intended to improve inclusivity and reliability, allowing citizens to access government services anytime and from any location.
NeGD has also indicated that the next phase of expansion will involve adopting emerging technologies, including AI-driven solutions, to broaden the portfolio of digital services. Training initiatives are planned at the state level to increase awareness and ensure effective use of these platforms, with an emphasis on improving last-mile delivery.
