Bhubaneshwar: The Odisha government has directed all departments and state-run institutions to mandatorily adopt Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) services for their communication needs.
The move, announced by the Electronics and Information Technology Department on Friday, aligns with central guidelines to strengthen public sector telecom and standardise services across government offices.
Under the directive, departments are required to shift internet, broadband, landline, and leased line connections to BSNL wherever technically feasible.
Existing services provided by private operators are to be reviewed and migrated without disrupting ongoing operations. Each department has been asked to complete the transition and submit a compliance report by 30 September.
The Cooperative Department has issued similar instructions to all District and Assistant Registrars of Cooperative Societies, making it mandatory for offices under their jurisdiction to follow the same.
Officials expect the decision to not only boost BSNL’s utilisation in the state but also enhance security, uniformity, and reliability in government communication networks.
