Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the state is fast becoming a centre for “fearless business,” with over 17,000 startups, including eight unicorns, driving innovation and technology-led growth.
He was speaking at the valedictory session of the two-day CSIR–Startup Conclave held at the CSIR–National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) in Lucknow.
Highlighting the transformation over the past eight-and-a-half years, Adityanath credited a secure environment, simplified regulations, and a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem for the state’s rising profile. “Security, ease and a strong ecosystem are essential for business, and Uttar Pradesh today offers all three,” he said, adding that the state’s identity now extends beyond ease of doing business to the “trust of doing business.”
The conclave, organised in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Science and Technology, brought together scientists, institutions, and progressive farmers to showcase research and innovations. Adityanath noted that several memorandums of understanding were signed and new products launched during the event, setting a roadmap for future collaborations. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh for choosing Lucknow as the venue.
Emphasising government support from “laboratory to industry,” the chief minister said every research effort should translate into a product and ultimately an industry to power India’s growth. He pointed out that India hosts over 1.90 lakh startups, ranking third globally after the US and the UK, with Uttar Pradesh contributing significantly through 72 incubators, seven Centres of Excellence, and ₹137 crore in state-backed funding.
Adityanath also highlighted reduced migration of workers since 2017, crediting the success of the state’s MSME and One District One Product (ODOP) initiatives.
