New Delhi: The Ministry of Civil Aviation on 15 December issued a heavy fog alert for airports across northern India as dense fog led to a sharp drop in visibility, disrupting flight operations in several cities, including the national capital. Arrival and departure schedules at Delhi airport were particularly affected due to the adverse weather conditions.
Passengers have been advised to check the status of their flights with airlines before leaving for the airport and to stay updated through official airport websites or mobile applications. Travellers were also urged to factor in additional travel time, as fog-related delays may impact road and air traffic.
The Civil Aviation Ministry said in a social media post that safety remains its highest priority. It added that airport authorities and air traffic control teams are working continuously to manage operations and reduce disruptions caused by the fog. Passengers were thanked for their cooperation and patience during the challenging conditions.
Meanwhile, IndiGo Airlines also released an advisory highlighting that low visibility due to dense fog has affected operations at Delhi and other northern airports. The airline said flight schedules are being adjusted in line with safety protocols, and some services may be delayed or cancelled to avoid prolonged waiting times.
