Kolkata: The Election Commission has announced the hearing and verification phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process between 16 December 2025 and 7 February 2026.
The 294 EROs and 3059 AEROs deployed for West Bengal SIR will preside over the hearings.
The EROs and AEROs will undergo a one-day training on form disbursement before the hearings start.
However, the EC is yet to communicate the training schedule.
One ERO and 10 AEROs on average will be deployed at every assembly constituency. Every officer will hear 100 cases a day.
About 32 lakh unmapped voters and a section of another 1.7 crore odd people, whose enumeration forms have been identified with logical discrepancies, will be called for a hearing before EROs and AEROs.
New applicants who want to be enrolled as voters will also have to appear for a hearing.
The EC plans to appoint another 2800 AEROs to expedite the process.
