New Delhi: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal inaugurated the NEST–02 (New Enterprises & Services Tower – Phase 2) facility at the Santacruz Electronics Export Processing Zone (SEEPZ) in Mumbai.
He called on industries to significantly scale up their skilling efforts to meet India’s future workforce demands.
Focus on Skilling and Workforce Development
Goyal urged SEEPZ units to strengthen training initiatives, including dedicated programs for specially abled youth. He said that skilling must remain at the centre of India’s growth strategy and emphasised that industry must play a larger role in developing a future-ready workforce.
Infrastructure Upgrades and Modernisation
During the visit, the Minister reviewed ongoing and planned infrastructure improvements at SEEPZ. These include the enhancement of internal roads, landscaping, and the overall aesthetics of the zone. He said SEEPZ must reflect the standards of a modern India and evolve into a model Special Economic Zone, showcasing world-class infrastructure and operational efficiency.
Roadmap for Viksit Bharat 2047
Linking SEEPZ’s development to the larger vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, Goyal urged industries to adopt modern systems, embrace futuristic planning, and implement global-quality standards. He expressed confidence that SEEPZ can emerge as a world-class production and export hub, aligning with India’s ambitions for Viksit Bharat 2047.
