Kohima: Union Minister for Communications and DoNER, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for multiple projects worth over Rs 645 crore to accelerate infrastructure and sectoral development in Nagaland.
The state-level ceremony was held at the Multipurpose Hall, Phezou Resort, Tuophema, in the presence of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang.
The event saw the commissioning of completed projects worth over Rs 202 crore and the launch of new initiatives totalling nearly Rs 443 crore across Power, Health, PWD (R&B), Education, Sports, and IT & Communication. Among the five inaugurated projects were the upgraded 132 kV sub-station at Nagarjan in Dimapur and major road improvements under PWD (R&B).
Education sector additions included an In-Service Teachers Training Centre with residential facilities and IT upgrades in 190 schools.
Foundation stones were also laid for 11 new projects, including a multispeciality hospital in Chümoukedima, a 50-bedded hospital in Peren, a multi-disciplinary sports centre in Kohima, the Nagaland Innovation Hub, the Dzuna Small Hydro Project and seven new road projects worth over Rs 225 crore.
Addressing the gathering, Scindia highlighted transformative growth under the Act East Policy and praised Nagaland’s cultural vibrancy.
Chief Minister Rio said these initiatives marked a collective step forward in strengthening connectivity, essential services and rural economic opportunities.
