Kolkata: The State Urban Development Agency (SUDA) under West Bengal Municipal and Urban Development has created an app to mark online attendance in all municipalities across the state.
All details of each employee are already being fed into the app and being uploaded online. The data collection work has already started, and even the upload work has progressed in many places. Under this app, each employee had to record his/her attendance daily through geo-tagging.
SUDA has already discussed the modalities with all the municipalities. To date, Kolkata Municipal Corporation, Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation, and a few other corporations have their own online attendance systems. However, this is the first time a centralised online attendance system is being implemented across all municipalities under SUDA’s supervision.
Everyone from the executive officer to the engineer and departmental workers has to mark their online attendance. Because of geotagging, this will prevent marking attendance remotely and thereby instill discipline.
This move is expected to not just enhance transparency but also improve the productivity of all municipal employees.
As per SUDA, work in all municipalities is targeted to be completed by December only.
