New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) launched ‘Udai’, the official Aadhaar mascot, aimed at making Aadhaar-related services easier to understand and more resident-friendly.
Designed as a communication companion, the mascot will help simplify information on Aadhaar updates, authentication, offline verification, selective data sharing, responsible usage and adoption of new technologies.
UIDAI selected the mascot through open national design and naming competitions hosted on the MyGov platform, which drew 875 entries from across the country.
Arun Gokul from Thrissur won the mascot design competition, while Riya Jain from Bhopal topped the naming contest.
UIDAI Chairman Neelkanth Mishra unveiled the mascot and felicitated the winners at an event in Thiruvananthapuram.
CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar said the participatory approach strengthened public trust in Aadhaar, while Deputy Director General Vivek C Verma noted that the mascot will help residents connect with Aadhaar services more easily.
