Kolkata: The Election Commission of India has ordered a major reshuffle of 13 IAS officers in poll-bound West Bengal, appointing new district magistrates (DMs) who will also serve as district election officers (DEOs).
The move is aimed at strengthening election preparedness and ensuring the smooth conduct of the upcoming polls. The appointed officers will take on key responsibilities, including functioning as poll observers and overseeing election processes at the district level.
According to the official communication, the following appointments have been made:
- IAS Jitin Yadav– DM-cum-DEO, Cooch Behar
- IAS Sandeep Ghosh – DM-cum-DEO, Jalpaiguri
- IAS Vivek Kumar – DM-cum-DEO, Uttar Dinajpur
- IAS Rajanvir Singh Kapur – DM-cum-DEO, Malda
- IAS R Arjun – DM-cum-DEO, Murshidabad
- IAS Srikant Palli – DM-cum-DEO, Nadia
- IAS Sweta Agarwal – DM-cum-DEO, Purba Bardhaman
- IAS Shilpa Gorisaria – DM-cum-DEO, North 24 Parganas
- IAS Abhishek Kumar Tiwary – DM-cum-DEO, South 24 Parganas
- IAS Harishankar Panicker – DM-cum-DEO, Darjeeling
- IAS T Balasubramanian – DM-cum-DEO, Alipurduar
- IAS Smita Pandey – Municipal Commissioner, Kolkata Municipal Corporation and DEO, Kolkata North
- IAS Randhir Kumar – DEO, Kolkata South
The reshuffle is part of routine administrative measures undertaken by the Election Commission ahead of elections to ensure neutrality, efficiency, and effective supervision of the electoral process.
