Kolkata: The Kolkata Police Cyber Crime Cell has busted a fraudulent International call center operating from Nayabad Avenue, in the Panchasayar area.
The call center group posed as representatives of leading tech MNCs like Apple, Geek Squad, McAfee, Norton and PayPal.
They allegedly exploited the names of these globally recognized brands to target foreign nationals, mainly from US, and extort money dishonestly.
The alleged fraudsters used to induce victims yo transfer money through fake tech-support schemes.
Kolkata Police registered a case following information from the CBI’s Interpol wing.
The police are currently investigating the digital devices, communication records and financial transactions linked to the suspected call center.
