Kolkata, Apr 1, ( APAC Media ) : The Sealdah division of the Eastern Railway yesterday commissioned its first Gati Shakti multimodal cargo terminal.
This state-of-the-art terminal has come up at Sargachhi station on the Krishnanagar-Lalgola section.
It can handle two to three rakes each month. Each rake can carry 2500 tonne of food grains. This cargo terminal will initially mostly handle wheat rakes for the Food Corporation of India.
Hopefully this will streamline the movement and storage of essential food grains in the Murshidabad area.
The terminal is also equipped for bulk storage with protection against environmental factors and infestation.
With this storage infrastructure, Sealdah division can improve supply chain efficiency, reduce transit overheads and ensure food security for the area.
