Kolkata, 1 April, 2026 (APAC Media): The Eastern Railway has flagged off its 200th locomotive from the Dankuni Loco Works.
This was a significant production milestone for the Dankuni plant. Against a target set of 175 for the year, the plant crossed it by more than 25.
These locomotives are fitted with a number of the state-of-the-art features.
These included inspector seats, 360 degree driver seats, toolkits, signalling exchange lights and AC cabs.
The Dankuni plant has also commissioned 85 Kavach equipped locomotives this year.
It has thus become the first railway production unit to successfully integrate Kavach into locomotives.
The Dankuni plant had also surpassed its target last year too. It produced 156 locomotives against a target set of 100.
