Noida, May 29 (APAC Media): Tesla has revised the price of its Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) variant in India to Rs 50.89 lakh (ex-showroom), according to an updated listing of the electric SUV on its official channels.
“The revised pricing makes the Premium RWD variant the entry-level offering in the Model Y range in India. The company has also discontinued the earlier higher-priced Long Range Premium RWD variant as part of the product restructuring, effectively lowering the starting price of the Model Y lineup in the market,” Tesla said.
The Model Y Premium RWD is positioned as a mid-size electric SUV catering to the premium segment. It offers a WLTP-certified range of up to around 500 km on a single charge and is equipped with a rear-wheel-drive system.
2026 Tesla Model Y Price List (India)
| Variant | Price (Ex-showroom) | Range (WLTP) |
|---|---|---|
| Premium RWD | ₹50.89 lakh | ~500 km |
| Long Range AWD | ₹61.99 lakh | ~681 km |
Therefore, the vehicle is designed to strike a balance between efficiency and performance, delivering brisk acceleration along with long-distance driving capability in line with the brand’s global product lineup.
On the feature front, the updated Model Y retains Tesla’s minimalist interior layout with a large central touchscreen interface. It includes connected car features, over-the-air software updates, and advanced driver assistance systems.

However, full self-driving functionality remains restricted in India in line with current regulatory frameworks.
The price revision is seen as a strategic move by Tesla to strengthen its foothold in India’s growing premium electric vehicle market, where it competes with imported luxury EV offerings from global manufacturers.
Industry observers note that the revised entry price may help widen its customer base in metro cities with rising demand for high-end electric mobility.
Deliveries of the revised Model Y Premium RWD variant are expected to begin in July 2026. The update marks a significant step in Tesla’s ongoing expansion plans in the Indian automotive market.
