Gurugram, June 1 (APAC Media): The Haryana government has taken a significant step towards strengthening its artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem with the launch of the Haryana AI Sandbox.
The initiative was inaugurated by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini at a programme held in Gurugram today.
Developed with support from the World Bank, the AI Sandbox aims to provide startups, innovators, students, researchers, and industry stakeholders with a dedicated environment to develop, test, and validate AI-driven solutions.
But what exactly is an AI Sandbox?
The Haryana AI Sandbox is a platform designed to foster innovation, skill development, and employment generation through emerging technologies. It will function as a secure platform where government departments, technology experts, innovators, and domain specialists can collaborate to address real-world challenges using artificial intelligence.
How will the AI Sandbox work?
The AI Sandbox will provide access to real or representative public-sector data while maintaining safeguards related to privacy, ethics, and risk management.
Unlike conventional pilot projects that require substantial upfront investment, the Sandbox follows a “test before invest” approach. This allows AI solutions to be evaluated in a controlled setting before they are scaled for wider implementation.
The initiative is expected to encourage innovation across sectors while helping build future-ready skills among young professionals and students. By creating opportunities for experimentation and collaboration, the state government also aims to generate employment in AI and related technology fields.
Speaking at the launch, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said, “Today’s launch of the AI Sandbox will prove to be an important milestone in the state’s journey of governance, development, and innovation.”
The launch is part of the broader Haryana AI Development Program, under which the state plans to develop a robust AI ecosystem over the next six years. As part of this vision, two AI Centres of Excellence are being established in Gurugram and Panchkula. The Chief Minister also announced that Haryana will host a major AI Summit in the near future.
