Noida, June 1 (APAC Media): The government has appointed Brajesh Kumar Singh as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Canara Bank, according to an source.
Singh, currently Executive Director at Indian Bank, has been selected to head the state-owned lender following the retirement of former MD and CEO K. Satyanarayana Raju.
The appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) based on the recommendation of the Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB), the government’s head-hunter for directors of state-owned financial institutions.
Singh will assume charge from the date of taking over and will remain in office until April 30, 2029, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

A career banker with extensive experience in public sector banking, Singh has held key positions across business operations, credit, risk management and administration during his tenure in the banking industry.
Canara Bank, one of the country’s largest public sector banks, has been focusing on expanding its loan portfolio, strengthening asset quality and accelerating digital banking initiatives.
The Bengaluru-based lender reported steady financial performance in recent quarters, supported by growth in advances and improvement in asset quality indicators.
