New Delhi, July 6 (APAC Media): The Delhi Government has launched Mission Kayakalp, a major education infrastructure initiative aimed at transforming government schools into modern, safe, and student-friendly campuses across the capital.
The programme has been launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
The initiative focuses on upgrading school infrastructure, improving learning environments, and creating well equipped campuses that support quality education for students.
Speaking on the initiative, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said government schools will be transformed into modern learning campuses equipped with better infrastructure and improved facilities for students.
Under Mission Kayakalp, the government will upgrade schools with:
- Safe and structurally strengthened buildings
- Modern science laboratories
- Clean drinking water facilities
- Renovated toilets and better sanitation
- Green and eco-friendly campuses
The Chief Minister said the initiative aims to provide students with a safe, clean, and inspiring learning environment while improving the overall quality of education.
Mission Kayakalp will be implemented across government schools in multiple districts of Delhi through large-scale renovation and infrastructure upgrades.
The key works include:
- Repair and renovation of ageing school buildings
- Painting and structural strengthening of classrooms
- Modernisation of science laboratories
- Installation of RO plants and water coolers
- Development of green school campuses
- Improved facilities for children with special needs
Officials said the initiative goes beyond routine maintenance and aims to completely transform the learning environment in government schools.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said Mission Kayakalp is being implemented through a collaborative approach involving multiple stakeholders.
The initiative brings together:
- District administrations
- The Education Department
- Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partners
- Social organisations
- Market associations
- Local community groups
She said active public participation is helping accelerate the transformation of government schools across Delhi.
The Delhi Government said Mission Kayakalp aims to provide every child with a safe, inclusive, and high-quality learning environment.
Along with infrastructure upgrades, the initiative focuses on improving accessibility for all students, including children with special needs.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the goal is to transform government schools into campuses that offer not just quality education, but also dignity, safety, and equal opportunities for every student.
