Chandigarh, July 6 (APAC Media): The Punjab Government has launched the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for Scheduled Caste (SC) students for the 2026–27 academic session, aiming to improve access to higher education.
The announcement was made by Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Affairs Minister Baljit Kaur.
The scheme will be implemented through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), ensuring a transparent, digital, and hassle-free application process for eligible students.
Minister Baljit Kaur said the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) became operational on July 1, 2026, and eligible students can now submit their applications online.
She urged SC students across Punjab to apply well before the deadline and take full advantage of the scheme to continue their higher education without financial constraints.

- Correction of applications: November 30, 2026
- Institution verification deadline: November 30, 2026
- Final verification (DNO/SNO/MNO): December 15, 2026

Baljit Kaur said the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government is committed to ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent students from pursuing higher education.
She said the scholarship scheme reflects the government’s vision of a “Rangla Punjab”, where every student has equal opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed.
The minister said the scheme aims to improve access to higher education and enhance students’ future career opportunities.
She added that the initiative will:
- Reduce the financial burden on economically weaker families
- Support government efforts to create better education and employment opportunities
- Expand merit-based opportunities for students across different sector
To ensure wider outreach, Baljit Kaur directed district officials to organise awareness camps across urban, rural, and remote areas so that every eligible student is informed about the scheme.
She also asked the Higher Education, Medical Education, Technical Education, School Education, and Animal Husbandry departments to assist students with the application process and required documentation.
