New Delhi, July 30 (APAC Media): Oil India Limited (OIL) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to establish Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) plants in the national capital.
These plants will process segregated organic municipal solid waste generated across the region.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi, along with senior officials from the Delhi Government, MCD, and Oil India.
As part of the collaboration, the two organisations plan to initially develop two CBG plants, one with a processing capacity of 500 tonnes per day (TPD) and another with a capacity of 300 TPD. Together, the facilities are expected to produce 30–32 tonnes of compressed biogas per day.
The initiative aims to convert biodegradable municipal waste into clean, renewable fuel, while reducing Delhi’s dependence on landfills. It is also expected to strengthen urban sanitation, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and promote sustainable waste management.
According to Oil India, the project aligns with the Government of India’s flagship initiatives, including the Swachh Bharat Mission, SATAT, and the country’s Net Zero ambitions.
The Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said the partnership marks another milestone in expanding its waste-to-energy portfolio and advancing circular economy solutions in urban India.
