New Delhi, August 3 (APAC Media): The Delhi government’s newly launched online portal for the Delhi Laxmi Yojana has witnessed an overwhelming response, with more than 1.54 lakh women registering and 10,723 submitting their final applications.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta officially launched the Delhi Laxmi Yojana on Saturday, along with its dedicated online registration portal, www.dly.delhi.gov.in. The scheme aims to provide eligible women with monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,500 while encouraging long-term savings and financial inclusion.
The portal recorded more than 33,730 registrations and 1,940 final applications within just 12 hours of its launch, highlighting the strong interest among women across the national capital.
Combining financial assistance with long-term savings
Speaking at the launch event, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the scheme aims to empower women economically.
The scheme, which will initially run for three years, is expected to benefit nearly 17 lakh women.
Unlike conventional cash transfer programmes, the Delhi Laxmi Yojana offers beneficiaries two financial options. Under the first, Rs 1,000 is credited every month to a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) wallet for daily household expenses, while the remaining Rs 1,500 is deposited into a recurring or fixed deposit account. The second option allows the entire Rs 2,500 monthly assistance to be deposited into an RD or FD account, enabling beneficiaries to build long-term savings with interest.
Technology-driven verification to ensure transparency
The Chief Minister said the scheme is built on a fully digital, technology-driven platform that integrates application submission, document verification, eligibility assessment, banking services, PFMS integration, CBDC transfers, and SMS notifications.
Every application will undergo a four-stage verification process involving the District Programme Management Unit, the District Women and Child Development Officer, and the District-Level Approval, Monitoring, and Grievance Redressal Committee before approval.
The government will verify Aadhaar authentication, Delhi voter registration, family income, electricity consumption, vehicle ownership, pension status, government service records, and other eligibility parameters. Any false declaration or fraudulent claim will invite recovery of the financial assistance along with legal and administrative action.
Eligibility criteria
The eldest eligible woman in a family can apply under the scheme. Applicants must be between 21 and 60 years of age, have an annual family income of not more than Rs. 2.5 lakh, be registered voters in Delhi, and have either themselves, their parents, or their husband residing in Delhi for at least 10 years.
