New Delhi, August 10 (APAC Media): The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of IAS Akshay Tripathi as Private Secretary to Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram.
Tripathi, a 2014-batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, is currently serving as the District Magistrate and Collector of Bahraich. As per an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), he has been appointed at the level of Deputy Secretary for a tenure of five years from the date he assumes charge.
His tenure will be co-terminus with that of the Minister or continue until he ceases to function as Private Secretary, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
During his administrative career, Tripathi has held several key positions in Uttar Pradesh. His assignments include serving as District Magistrate of Lalitpur, Special Secretary in the Uttar Pradesh IT & Electronics Department, Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh Electronics Corporation Limited (UPLC), Vice Chairman of the Lucknow Development Authority, and Municipal Commissioner of Kanpur Nagar.
Tripathi has also been recognised for his contribution to public administration. He is a recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration for his “Swachh Bhavishya” initiative.
The DoPT has directed the Uttar Pradesh government to relieve Tripathi of his present responsibilities immediately, enabling him to take up his new assignment in the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
