New Delhi, August 10(APAC Media): Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro Max could cost significantly more in India than its predecessor.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to launch in September 2026, with September 9 emerging as a possible date for Apple’s next iPhone event. Apple has not confirmed the launch date or India price yet. Recent reports and leaks suggest that the Pro Max could be priced around Rs 1,69,990 in India, although other estimates have put the starting price lower.
For context, Apple launched the iPhone 17 Pro Max in India at Rs 1,49,900. The current Apple Store listing also shows the 256GB model at Rs 1,49,900. If the Rs 1,69,990 estimate for the iPhone 18 Pro Max proves accurate, the new model would cost about Rs 20,090 more than the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s launch price.
A20 Pro Chip And 2nm Technology
One of the biggest expected changes is the A20 Pro chip. Reports suggest Apple could move to a 2nm manufacturing process for the next-generation processor. The smaller process could improve performance and power efficiency, but it may also add to component costs.
Bigger Battery And Thicker Design
The iPhone 18 Pro Max is also rumoured to get a battery exceeding 5,000mAh. Some reports have pointed to an even larger battery, which could require additional internal space. This could explain reports of a thicker body compared with the current model.
Variable Aperture Camera
Camera hardware could also see a notable change. Apple is reportedly considering a variable aperture for the main camera, allowing the lens to control how much light reaches the sensor. The feature could give users more control over exposure and depth of field.
Smaller Dynamic Island And Display Changes
Apple is expected to reduce the size of the Dynamic Island on the Pro models. Reports suggest that some Face ID components could move beneath the display, giving Apple more room to reduce the visible cutout. The 6.9-inch display is expected to remain, with an upgraded LTPO panel also reportedly under consideration.
Apple C2 Modem Could Replace Qualcomm
Another major change could come inside the connectivity system. Apple is reportedly preparing its C2 modem for future iPhones, potentially reducing its reliance on Qualcomm. The modem could bring better integration between Apple’s hardware and software while also supporting newer 5G connectivity features.
The C2 modem has also been linked to 5G NR-NTN support, which could allow compatible iPhones to communicate with satellite networks in areas where conventional cellular coverage is unavailable.
Taken together, the A20 Pro chip, larger battery, camera changes, display refinements and new modem could make the iPhone 18 Pro Max more expensive to manufacture. However, the Rs 1,69,990 figure remains an estimate and should not be treated as the confirmed iPhone 18 Pro Max price in India. Apple’s official pricing will be announced only when the company launches the device.
