New Delhi, August 11(APAC Media): OnePlus has started testing ColorOS 17 in India.
The company has opened a closed beta for the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus 15R. Selected users who applied for the programme between August 6 and August 7 can now wait for confirmation and the software update.
The move is part of OnePlus’ shift away from OxygenOS. Starting with Android 17, the company will use Oppo’s ColorOS on OnePlus phones in India and other markets.
ColorOS 17 Beta For OnePlus 15 Series
The beta will allow OnePlus to test the new software before releasing it to more users. The company will use feedback from the selected testers to find bugs and other software issues.
OnePlus and Oppo already share parts of their software development. OxygenOS has also used the same basic code as ColorOS for several years. However, OnePlus kept its own interface and some software features.
With the move to ColorOS, that difference is expected to become smaller. The change could also help OnePlus reduce the cost of developing and maintaining separate software platforms.
What Happens To OxygenOS?
OnePlus has not yet announced a full public rollout date for ColorOS 17 in India. The company is expected to test the software on more devices before making it available to all eligible users.
The OnePlus 15 and OnePlus 15R are currently the first phones in India to enter the ColorOS 17 beta programme. More OnePlus models are expected to receive the Android 17-based software later.
