New Delhi: Gwalior Smart City is working towards curbing the COVID-19 pandemic in six ways. First aspect is ‘suspect tracking and information management system’. This is a web-based mobile application to track and manage each person who is suspected of being infected with the virus. Second is management of city entrants through the Border Management System said Jayati Singh, IAS, CEO, Gwalior Smart City, Government of Madhya while addressing Inaugral session of APAC Glocal India Healthcare Conclave organised by APAC News Network on 27-28 August 2020 and attended by 55+ Healthcare Leaders across the country with 1000+ delegates presense.
Any person who came from another district is registered at the border check post and information is shared with the respective Incident Commander for Home Quarantine of that person. The third measure is ‘24*7 Doctor consultation through WhatsApp video call at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC). At the initial stages, there was a lot of confusion among people to identify the COVID-19 symptoms or other queries. Hence, we took this initiative.
‘CCTV patrolling and surveillance and Border’ is another step that we have taken to keep check on the district entrants. We are also tracking patients with Influenza like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) symptoms. Within this, patients may not necessarily take a COVID test, but can inform us, so that we can track and monitor their health conditions and determine whether they should undergo a test or stay under home quarantine. We also coordinate with private hospitals or doctors who are treating those patients. This enables early detection and timely treatment resulting in quick and high recovery rate. Another initiative taken by us was the District Survey and Containment Zone Survey with a sample size of 3,57,013 and 4,10,135 people.
The survey was done with a GIS based mobile application and conducted online. It analysed the chances of community spread and risk profiling. Gwalior Smart City is also providing transport and logistics support. 20 buses of smart city bus service are deployed for the transportation of doctors, migrant labourers from the border to quarantine centres and a fleet of buses have been kept reserved for cases of exigencies. IT tools, ICCC and a good nodal team have helped us combat the pandemic situation effectively. We have been able to track every case and gather social intelligence and coordinate with different departments effectively.
