NEW DELHI: The Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-Delhi) announced that it has installed electric vehicle (EV) charging points on its campus. The installation is part of the institute’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainable and eco-friendly practices and to reduce carbon emissions.
The EV charging points on the campus will allow students, faculty members, staff, and visitors to charge their electric vehicles conveniently and efficiently. The charging stations are located in a prominent and easily accessible location on campus, providing the institute community with the convenience they need while promoting the use of eco-friendly vehicles.
Professor Ranjan Bose, Director, IIIT Delhi, said, “We are delighted to install these Hassle free EV charging points on the IIIT-Delhi campus through the Discom, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited, empanelled vendor with Subsidy under Delhi EV Policy. This initiative is a big step towards promoting sustainable transportation and reducing our carbon footprint and shows our commitment to support the transition to electric mobility in the country.”
The charging stations are compatible with almost all electric vehicles and can be used at a nominal charge. “The institute is confident that this addition to our campus will encourage the use of electric vehicles and contribute towards a cleaner and greener environment, and also with a view to encouraging more stakeholders to adopt electric vehicles, contributing their bit towards reducing air pollution in line with the EV policies of the Government,” said an official statement.
