Ludhiana: As the Ludhiana civic body has failed in tackling the road infrastructure in the city properly, the municipal corporation is now looking forward for a collaboration with ‘PotHole Raja’, a social venture working to improve road infrastructure in different cities of the country.
Despite keeping a good budget for construction and repair of roads, poor quality has remained a major cause of concern for the officials. Recently, a delegation from ‘Pothole Raja’ led by its director Sourabh Kumar also met MC commissioner Shena Aggarwal and discussed the projects that can be taken up in the city to improve road infrastructure and to make city roads safe.
Civic body officials claimed that the MC was also planning to sign an MoU with ‘PotHole Raja’ wherein the experts would conduct studies to upgrade the road infrastructure and enhance road safety in the city.
The experts will also work on projects to be taken up under corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities for constructing roads by using recycled plastic, build model roads with pedestrian-friendly infrastructure and improve key junctions in the city by adding innovative solutions.
Sourabh from ‘PotHole Raja’ said they had been working in different parts of the country, including Bangalore, Mumbai, and Goa, to improve road infrastructure. The aim is to deliver high-quality and sustainable road construction solutions that are both cost-effective and environmentally friendly.
He also invited corporate houses to join hands with them as part of the CSR activity so that they could work to improve the road infrastructure. MC commissioner Aggarwal shared that different steps were already being taken to improve the road infrastructure and to ensure safety of residents on city roads. ‘PotHole Raja’ has also stepped forward for conducting different studies to improve the road infrastructure.
Notably, many times it has been seen that roads are constructed and due to poor construction material these get damaged in no time. So it will be seen whether the civic body will become successful in fixing this issue with the help of ‘PotHole Raja’.
