Mumbai: The 8th edition of the APAC National HealthTech Innovation Conclave was organized by APAC News Network in Mumbai on November 3rd, 2023 at ITC Grand Central Hotel, Lower Parel. Underpinning the Conclave tagline of “Enabling Healthcare with Technology”, more than 30+ administrators and technology decision-makers from hospitals deliberated on the technology roadmap likely to be adopted by the healthcare sector. The Conclave was further enhanced by the active participation of another 50+ tech influencers from healthcare who were interactive from the start to the finish.
The Conclave was well supported by the industry with active participation from the likes of Schneider Electric and VoiceOC. Primarily the discussions ranged from building a resilient and sustainable healthcare infrastructure to effectively leveraging on Healthcare 4.0 technologies. The Conclave also focused on digital hospitals of the future that leverage technologies in all aspects of patient experience, staff management, care delivery and hospital operations.
“Patients of the future can be sent home with wearables and that is one way technology can transform healthcare. IoT can play a major part in the whole endeavour,” reiterated Nawin Sona Natesan, IAS, Principal Secretary 2, Health & Family Welfare Department, Govt of Maharashtra. However, patient safety is most important. Even the World Health Organization has given utmost importance to this. “The government of Maharashtra is already doing AI based analysis, leveraging blockchain in the healthcare sector. We run more than 250 hospitals at nearly $2 billion budget.”
Bhupesh Arora, Business Head, Digital Energy Division, Schneider Electric presented the industry perspective. Infrastructure evolution wit h blended Technology has happened during the pandemic. Schneider Electric has been partnering with healthcare stakeholders for infrastructure transformation.” informed Arora.
“Insufficient infrastructure, workforce, evolving patient expectation, increasing cost pressure are the challenges of healthcare sector. The key is to move towards connected systems through digital innovation,” reiterated Nikhil Kumar, Head—Healthcare, Greater India Operations, Schneider Electric India. “We are partnering with healthcare organisations to design and deliver digital solutions ready for today and flexible tomorrow,” informed Schneider.
Schneider’s insights on sustainability and its application in healthcare enriched all the participating hospitals and provided them with a well-defined roadmap on their sustainability journey. Healthcare is an extremely energy-intensive sector and 25% of all opex costs of all hospitals goes on energy, added Arora.
The panel discussions included renowned names from hospitals including the likes of Dr Srivatsan Sridhar, Director & COO, Sir H.N Reliance Foundation Hospital & Research Centre, Santosh Marathe, Regional CEO – Western Region, Apollo Hospitals, Dr. Parag Rindani, CEO, Wockhardt Hospitals, Joy Chakraborty, COO, PD Hinduja Hospital & MRC, Sankareswaran Jayaraj, Head Infrastructure Projects, Tata Trusts and Bhupesh Arora, Business Head, Digital Energy Division, Schneider Electric.
While they discussed on building a resilient healthcare infrastructure, other panelists focused on leveraging Healthcare 4.0 technologies to build a sustainable healthcare infrastructure. These panelists included Dr Manisha Bobade, CEO, KJ Somaiya Hospital & Research Centre, Neelesh Shinde, Group CTO, Jupiter Hospital and Viloo Williams, Group CIO, Grant Medical Foundation, Ruby Hall Clinic, Pune.
Another esoteric set of panelists deliberated on the digital hospitals of the future includ ing Dr Kunal Punamiya, CEO, S L Raheja Hospital, Dr Nilesh Singh, COO, MRR Children Hospital, Dr Clive Fernandes, Group Clinical Director & Group COO, Wockhardt Hospitals, Dr Hardik Ajmeria, Medical Director, Saifee Hospital and Sweta Sharma, Segment Head – Building, Schneider Electric.
