Noida: In response to the prevailing cold weather conditions, the Gautam Buddh Nagar administration has ordered the closure of all schools in Noida and Greater Noida on December 29 and 30. The decision, based on instructions from District Magistrate Maneesh Kumar Verma, aims to safeguard students from the dense fog and extreme cold in the region.
The order, issued by Basic Education Officer Rahul Panwar, applies to all classes from nursery to 12 in CBSE/ICSE/IB and other recognised schools, council schools, government schools, and non-government aided schools. However, teachers and staff members are expected to work as usual during this period.
Furthermore, the Uttar Pradesh government has declared a winter vacation lasting 15 days, starting from December 31, 2023, to January 14, 2024.
The dense fog in Uttar Pradesh has severely impacted daily life, with visibility dropping to less than 20 meters in certain areas. Eight people lost their lives, and 30 others were injured in separate road collisions caused by the heavy fog.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), dense fog is expected to persist on Friday. However, the IMD predicts a gradual improvement in fog conditions starting from the morning of December 31.
