Lucknow: The APAC HealthCare Innovation Conclave – UP, hosted by the Department of Medical Health and Family Welfare, Government of Uttar Pradesh, in collaboration with APAC News Network, convened today in Lucknow. Speaking at the inaugural session, centred on the topic “Uttar Pradesh’s way of Taking Healthcare Delivery to the Last Mile with innovation,” Durga Shanker Mishra, IAS, Chief Secretary of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, underscored the significance of innovation in the country, stating, “Innovation is the new mantra of our country at present.”

Mishra highlighted the burgeoning startup ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh, and said, “Startup movement leads to entrepreneurship. At present, we have more than 11,000 startups in UP which includes healthcare startups too.”
Speaking on infrastructure development, Mishra announced the construction of a 500-bed hospital by IIT Kanpur, enhancing healthcare accessibility in the state. He also lauded the transformative impact of telemedicine on healthcare delivery.
Ranjan Kumar, IAS, Secretary of the Medical Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, outlined the state’s focus on leveraging technology and good governance to promote ease of healthy living. He highlighted initiatives such as portal-based data analytics and the installation of 16 types of surveillance cameras in more than 150 hospitals to enhance monitoring and efficiency.

Dr. Pankaj Jain, IAS, Director of Health Services of Madhya Pradesh, discussed the implementation of a Wet-Lease Model for lab services in district hospitals, optimising manpower utilisation and improving service delivery.
Vikram Pagaria, Joint Director of the National Health Authority, commended the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission for its innovative approach, noting its leapfrogging advancements in healthcare technology.
Major General (Prof) Atul Kotwal, SM, VSM, Executive Director of the National Health System Resource Centre, emphasised the role of collaborative innovation and digital public goods in overcoming challenges within the traditional healthcare system.
Several sessions were held during the event. The session themed “Making India a Digital Health Nation. Enabling Digital Healthcare,” saw Dr Mohit Singh, Joint Director Coordination, ABDM UP; Dr Anuradha Jain, Senior Advisor, Health System Strengthening, USAID; and Varsha Srivastava, Assistant Director, NABH showcase their expertise on the topic.
Prof (Dr) Ajai Singh, Director, AIIMS Raipur & Bhopal; Dr Sushil Meher, CIO, AIIMS Delhi; and Prof Aditya Kapoor, Head of Department -Cardiology, S.G.P.G.I., Lucknow, discussed the theme “Revolutionising Healthcare by Embracing Healthcare Technology.”
Dr Mayank Somani, MD & CEO, Apollo Hospitals, Lucknow; Dr Atul Kapoor, CMD, Regency Hospitals Ltd.; Dr Sanjeev Singh, Medical Director, Amrita Hospital; Dr Rakesh Kapoor, Medical Director, Medanta Hospital; and Dr Raj Gopal, CEO, Chandan Hospital, came together to discuss the topic “Role of Hospitals in Advancing Healthcare Development: Leaders Talk.”
The APAC HealthCare Innovation Conclave – UP showcased a collective commitment to harnessing innovation for the betterment of healthcare delivery, marking a significant step towards achieving comprehensive healthcare access in Uttar Pradesh.
