New Delhi: In an address at the APAC 2nd PSU Tech Conclave, Kalyan Chakravarthy, Head of Systems Engineering for India & SAARC at Ruckus Networks, underscored the pivotal role of cutting-edge technologies like Wi-Fi, IoT, and private 5G networks in driving digital transformation across industries.
Chakravarthy commenced his address by acknowledging the significant contribution of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in nurturing talent for the Indian economy. He emphasised how PSUs have fostered a generation of smart, intelligent, multicultural and broad-minded individuals, essential for the nation’s progress.
Delving into the technological realm, Chakravarthy outlined the evolution of Wi-Fi from a simple broadband delivery mechanism to a critical component in industrial applications. He drew attention towards the importance of Wi-Fi 6, 6E, and 7 in enabling high bandwidth, security, low latency, and deterministic performance, particularly in mission-critical scenarios.
Wi-Fi is no longer just about internet delivery, Chakravarthy remarked, adding that it’s becoming deterministic and mission-critical, paving the way for smart factories and seamless IoT integration. Furthermore, he stressed the significance of the 6 GHz spectrum for automation and urged for its prompt de-licensing in India to facilitate innovation and growth in this space.
Chakravarthy also shed light on the transformative potential of private 5G networks, describing them as indispensable for industries requiring reliable and high-performance wireless connectivity. He highlighted features such as network slicing, which enables users to customise and control their network segments according to specific requirements.
“Private 5G networks offer unparalleled reliability and performance, essential for sectors like utilities, mining, and manufacturing,” Chakravarthy asserted.
Transitioning to industrial IoT (IIoT), Chakravarthy discussed Comscope’s end-to-end solutions encompassing devices, connectivity, edge computing, and analytics. He emphasised the need for a common management platform to seamlessly integrate diverse technologies and support the transition to Industry 5.0.
He underscored Ruckus Networks’ comprehensive portfolio of networking products, including Wi-Fi, cellular, and IoT solutions. He stressed on the importance of AI-driven management platforms like R1 in enabling smart factories and campuses to harness the full potential of these technologies.
Chakravarthy concluded by highlighting the importance of transition to Industry 5.0 that hinges on comprehensive network control and human-machine collaboration facilitated by advanced IoT solutions.
