New Delhi: Amidst the continuing controversy surrounding the NEET-UG exam 2024, the government dismissed National Testing Agency chairman Subodh Kumar and replaced him with IAS (Retd) Pradeep Singh Kharola. He will now lead the exam board. Kharola has been appointed Director General of NTA, Minisry of Education, in addition to his existing duties.
In 2022, Kharola, the former Civil Aviation Secretary, was appointed Chairman and Managing Director of the India Trade Promotion Organisation. He is a 1985 batch IAS officer from the Karnataka cadre, and in November 2017, he was appointed chairman and managing director of Air India Ltd.
The statement comes after the Education ministry appointed a seven-member panel, headed by former ISRO chief K Radhakrishnan, to ensure fair, smooth, and transparent conduct of examinations by the NTA.
