New Delhi: Indian universities and higher education institutions will now be able to offer admissions twice a year, similar to foreign universities. The two admission cycles for the 2024–25 academic year are scheduled for July–August and January–February.Â
UGC chief Jagadesh Kumar announced on Tuesday, 11th June 2024 that the University Grants Commission approved the plan. According to Kumar, many students would benefit from Indian universities being able to offer admission twice a year. For example, students who were not admitted during the July–August session might have been affected by personal reasons, health concerns, or delays in the announcement of board results.Â
According to the UGC director, the biannual admissions will help higher education institutions (HEIs) to schedule the distribution of resources like teachers, labs, classrooms, and support services.
