New Delhi: State-owned Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) will soon open retail franchise shops called ‘Urja Dakshta Dukan’ to provide consumers with affordable energy-efficient products such as LED lights, air conditioners, and fans, according to a senior official.
At present, EESL distributes products to consumers through retail partnerships with electricity distribution utilities. The products are also available for purchase online through the company’s website, EESLMART.in. The official stated that the initial group of franchise outlets is anticipated to commence operations in Telangana, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand. The EESL website will host the invitation for franchise tie-ups throughout India beginning in August. According to the official, the EESL’s exclusive retail outlets will exhibit energy-efficient product lines for mass adoption through a franchise model at the pan-India level. The official stated that the EESL retail shop franchise model is designed to establish a comprehensive network of exclusive retail outlets throughout India. According to the official, this model not only promotes environmental and sustainability objectives but also stimulates economic development by generating business opportunities in the green sector.
The EESL, a joint venture of four public-sector undertakings – NTPC Ltd, Power Finance Corporation Ltd, REC Ltd, and POWERGRID Corporation of India Ltd – was established in 2009 and is promoted by the Ministry of Power.
