Kolkata: The West Bengal government has appointed Gopalika, the former Chief Secretary of the state, as the Chairman of the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) and as an advisor to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
She is a 1989-batch IAS officer who retired on August 31. She was originally scheduled to retire on May 31. However, she was given an extension of three months to continue as the chief secretary of West Bengal.
Gopalika’s new role will involve leading the industry body and providing strategic advice to the Chief Minister on industrial and economic matters.
