BEL, Israel Aerospace Industries Set Up Joint Venture for Missile Support

Bengaluru: Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) have established a joint venture to support India’s Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MRSAM) systems. The new company, BEL IAI AeroSystems Private Ltd, will be headquartered in Delhi and act as the main contact for technical and maintenance services for these air defense systems.

The collaboration builds on a long-standing partnership between the two companies, which have worked together on several defense projects for India’s military. This joint venture focuses on ensuring the long-term performance and lifecycle management of the MRSAM systems, which were co-developed by IAI and India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

Used by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, MRSAM is a key part of India’s air defense strategy. The joint venture also aligns with the Indian government’s push for self-reliance in defense manufacturing under the Atma Nirbhar Bharat initiative.

By combining their expertise, BEL and IAI aim to boost India’s defense capabilities while reinforcing their commitment to collaboration on strategic defense projects.
