New Delhi: Delhi University (DU) is rolling out big changes with its new development plan. The university aims to launch its own satellite, which could support research, GPS, and even remote education. If budget constraints arise, DU might collaborate with ISRO to make it happen.
DU also plans to phase out fossil fuel vehicles, starting with electric-only areas on campus, like Chhatra Marg, to promote a cleaner environment. Another new initiative is a free lunch program for underprivileged students, where they can work in exchange for meals at the cafeteria. DU may team up with local groups to source food safely and responsibly.
The university’s plans don’t stop there. It wants to set up a “University Haat,” a space where student start-ups can sell their products. DU also hopes to connect students with alumni who could offer mentorship and funding, as well as launch “reverse internships” where students get real-world experience by working with industry experts. These changes are part of DU’s long-term goals to make campus life more sustainable and supportive for students.
